Spell Description

A rain of large rocks fall to the ground in a 30-foot-radius, 40-foot-high cylinder centered on a point within range. Each creature in the cylinder takes 2d8 bludgeoning damage from the falling stones. The stones turn the area of effect into difficult terrain until cleared, with each 5-foot-diameter portion requiring at least 1 minute to clear by hand.

In addition, you conjure 5 medium sized rocks (5 by 5 feet) that fall in the area. A creature underneath one of these rocks must make a Dexterity saving throw or take an additional 5d8 bludgeoning damage. If the creature is medium or small, it is also knocked prone and restrained under the rock. A large creature in the area of two or more of these rocks still only makes the Dexterity saving throw once but can also be knocked prone and be restrained under the rocks on a failed saving throw. Each of these rocks each take up a 5 foot cube.

On its turn, a creature that is within reach of the rock can use an action to make a Strength saving throw to end the restrained condition on itself or another creature trapped under the rock, allowing the creature to escape from under the rock. Large or larger creatures have advantage on Strength saving throws to free itself or another creature from under a rock.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you conjure one additional medium sized rock for each slot level above 5th. If you cast this spell with a 9th level spell slot, the spell's area is also doubled and you conjure one huge sized rock (15 by 15 feet) into the area able to restrain any huge and gargantuan creatures caught under it. Large or smaller creatures under this rock automatically fail their Dexterity saving throw to avoid being trapped. Huge or smaller creatures can make a can use an action to make a Strength saving throw to end the restrained condition on itself or another creature trapped under this large rock. And gargantuan creatures can make this ability check with advantage. This rock deals an additional 10d8 bludgeoning damage to creatures that fail their initial Dexterity saving throw.
