Base Incantation

Range: 30 feet (line)

Duration: Instantaneous

Casting Time: 1 action

Components: V,S

Formula: You channel frost that freezes what it comes into contact with. The spell can also be used to freeze solid containers of water or water surfaces.

Target(s): You target one creature or object. Make a spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target suffers the spell’s effect.

Effect: A target takes 1d8 cold damage. The target’s speed is also reduced by 5 + an additional 5 feet per power level until the end of your next turn.

Spellweaving Options

When you expend a spell slot as a bonus action to weave a spell from the incantation, the spell’s power level becomes equal to the level of the expended spell slot plus your spellpower. In addition, you can add spellweaving option with a total cost equal to the total power level of the spell:

 

Gripping Cold (Costs 3)

This spellweaving option changes the spell in the following way:

          Adds to Effect: A target’s speed is also reduced by another 10 feet until the end of your next turn. If a target’ speed is reduced to 0 by this spell, the target is also restrained by ice until the condition is removed.

 

Severe Cold (Costs 3)

This spellweaving option changes the spell in the following way:

          Replaces Effect: A target instead takes 1d8 frost damage per power level and suffers a level of exhaustion.

 

Frost Reach (Costs 4)

This spellweaving option changes the spell in the following way:

          Adds to Range: The spell’s range increases by 60 feet. Each additional time you add this option, the spell’s range increases for another 30 feet.

 

Freeze Solid (Costs 6)

This spellweaving option changes the spell in the following way:

          Replaces Duration: The spell instead lasts for 1 minute (concentration).

          Replaces Effect: A target is restrained for the duration of the spell as it begins freezing solid. If a target successfully At the end of each of its turns, a target must make a Strength saving throw. If the target successfully saves against this spell three times, the spell ends. If a target instead fails its saving throw three times, it stops making any further saving throws. The successes and failures don't need to be consecutive; keep track of both until the target collects three of a kind. If it fails its saves three times, it is encapsuled in ice and subjected to the petrified condition for the remainder of the duration. The target does not become resistant to all damage while petrified by this spell only fire damage. If the target takes any damage while petrified the spell ends.

 

Cone of Cold (Costs 8)

This spellweaving option changes the spell in the following way:

          Replaces Range: The spell’s range instead becomes 60 feet (line).

          Replaces Target(s): The spell instead target’s all creatures in a cone: Target creatures must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or suffer the spell’s effect. On a successful saving throw, a target takes half damage from the spell’s effect but does not suffer any other part of the effect.
