At 5th level, you can choose one of the following skills that you are proficient with: Acrobatics, Animal Handling, Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Investigation, Performance, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth.

Once between long rests you can forgo rolling the chosen skill and automatically succeed on the roll instead (as described for each peerless skill). You also gain an additional magical ability depending on the skill you have chosen.

You can change your chosen skill for another skill you are proficient in from the list whenever you gain a level in this class.

Investigation: Scrounger

Once between long rests, you can automatically succeed on an ability check using Investigation instead of rolling.

You excel at rooting out secrets and unravelling mysteries. If you rummage around and interact with a location or people for at least 1 minute, you can magically sense illusions (such as object or creatures hidden by magic), shapechangers not in their original form, and other magic designed to deceive the senses. While you sense that an effect is attempting to trick you, you gain no insight into what or where something is hidden or into its true nature.
